born in chicago raised in upstate NY just moved to Atlanta GA...let's see how this goes...a chronicle of my first 365 days in dixie
Day 13: so we decided to go to the DMV to turn our cars into official Georgians.
Turns out we ALSO have to become official Georgians and get new licenses AND Rick has to have an emissions test done on his 1996 Saturn…

After a couple of hours of driving and waiting and going home to dig thru forms to find birth certificates etc we decided to call it a day instead and go drown our sorrows at the impending loss of our NYS driver-hood and found ourselves at the brick store in Decatur.

Holy s- this place was GREAT! Perfect beers at the perfect temperature, pub food, warm interior a win all the way around. The brick store is officially our new favorite ATL place…. Even tho it’s in Decatur.

The DMV can wait

Day 12: after a hard day of posting resumes we decided to take a walk down to little five points and got to shop around the junkman’s daughter a new favorite shopping location, and found the darling little numbers for about $15 a piece!!

I swear the shock of how much cheaper things are everywhere but NY will eventually wear off but right now I feel like I’m in a beautiful land of amazing bargains and I like it!

Day 11: my first trip ever to whole foods. Hot lots of yummy stuff but my dread of all things hipster is keeping me from enjoying what is pretty great food.

Somehow the fact that they sell the fray CDs at the checkout makes me want to sigh and roll my eyes rather than by delighted and psyched by the ‘coolness’ of the store.

Did you ever notice that ‘What the hell’ is always the right decision?

Today we met up with some of rick’s old friends from scad. Turns out one had entered his design into a local store’s logo contest.. Even tho his was by far the best, he wasn’t the winner but we decided to celebrate anyhow at grant central pizza with delicious fat tire dig and sweet pizza that by would be glad to have.

Day 7: i cannot believe that one week ago we left ny. It feels like 10 seconds ago. So today a friend passed along a job posting so I figured I’d dip my tackle in the waters of actually trying to become gainfully employed and dropped off a resume today- good luck little envelope!!!

Day 6:

It seems weird to say we stayed in for most of today but we did. I got loads of boxes unpacked and it’s finally starting to look like we live here!
