Day 34:Dear goldbergs deli thank you for providing a little slice of NY in ATL. Decent bagels, old loud, complaining jewish women with huge sunglasses and lots of gold jewelry, matzos sold on the counter pastrami sandwiches and real live actual fast service! Ahhhhhh
As good for my spirit right now as a spa visit.
Day 33
Free yoga at Atlantic station. More Atlanta awesomeness: FREE outdoor yoga. I LOVE it!
Day 30:
Cannot believe one month ago I was in my house in Hudson NY watching the snow fall and today we took the dogs to piedmont park and let them run around in the dogpark and then took some snacks and a blanket over under some trees and laid around reading and snacking while they napped and folks played guitar and grilled nearby.

Day 28
That feeling when you send out a resume for a job you’re perfect for and then immediately stare at your phone as though one glance at your resume and the job will instantly want to bring you in for an interview… Sigh…
Day 29:Contra Dancing
Things like this are the reason I needed to MOVE out of upstate ny. So I learned to that apparently dancing as though you’re on the BBC in a Jane Austen Reenactment is a THING in the south. Which is pretty awesome! A new friend invited my boyfriend and I and he declined but I decided to go anyway promising “not to hug any other boys”.
So off we went to the Decatur community center to a hot room with LOTS of dancers and EVERYBODY dances. I was asked by a much older dude (this being my target demographic) about 2 sec before the first dance we walked into. Sadly there weren’t a lot of men under the age of 65-70, but I did remember to remark to my partner upon ‘the dance,a kind remark about the size of the room and the number of couples’ ; ) If only for the satisfaction of quoting Elizabeth Bennett in such a setting.
The dancing was fun though my partners were the opposite of what one might have hoped, though all were very nice and understanding of my missing steps or going in the wrong direction from what the ‘caller’ told us to do.
Had LOTS of fun!
Day 27
Not the greatest day. Called to talk to my mom and we got in a HUGE fight where we yelled at each other and left things in a pretty terrible place. I was wrong and she was wrong but ultimately I used to live 45 min from her and could help her out all the time and saw each other pretty frequently all my other siblings moved out of state a long while ago, so she’s pissed off and missing me and not really able to talk to me and not get pissed and emotional.
needless to say my unemployed self started drinking all the good bye and good luck wine and champagne our friends gave us when we moved down at about noon. I was good and s-faced at about 5 and had a rough rest of the night. It’s got to get better eventually right?
Day 23:
Iiiiit’s a question, it’s a comment, it’s a question it’s a comment it’s a quement!!
SOOO exciting shortly after getting here I found out that the Nerdist was doing a live podcast just around the corner from us! SO EFFING COOL!, the guys were super funny, and it was a great crowd, with delightful levels of nerdery and was pleasantly surprised to find the variety playhouse had a decent craft beer selection. It’s just so great to be able to walk to the theater have a few beers at the theatre and few afterwards at The Porter. Such a fun night and a Great show!
I’m noticing a theme of “yay I can walk places!” currently feeling as though I used to live on wild frontier and not just a tiny town in upstate ny….
